For a while now, we’ve been focused on end of November as our completion date so we’ve been geared up to submit a final build to Apple today. We checked in the last few tweaks and fixes and did the build. We then played Smash Cops. An uneasy atmosphere of doubt and denial descended. Eventually reality forced us to admit, it wasn’t good enough. It was borderline and technically speaking Apple may have passed it but various performance and quality issues made it not viable by our own standards. As it happened we found a crash bug a little later which, in some ways, was a relief because it made the decision for us i.e. whether or not to work on it some more. We’ve decided to give it another two week blitz. The champagne remains unopened on the desk and we’re all feeling sad bunnies.
