Smash Cops – Playthrough Movie
Smash Cops has been approved and will be available on Apple’s AppStore on January 12th, 2012 (This Thursday). Here’s a brief taster of the game play on iPad and iPhone. It should give a good indication of how our ‘Push Controls’ work.
It’s pretty rough and ready but please check it out – the vet trimmed Rutlando’s nails especially.
Smash Cops Controls
Something we Hutchies are very proud and excited about are our innovative touch controls, we spent countless months iterating many ideas before settling on the “push” control scheme. They user tested well, one tester commented “thats obvious”, it wasn’t 6 months ago! Looking forward to the real test when the game launches.
And it works brilliantly on a phone.

So whats wrong with the D-pad anyway?
We set out to find a solution to the problem of bringing a core game experience to a touch device without a core control device, quite a challenge! Virtual D-pads are commonplace for racing games and analogue sticks are clunky and do not fit on a touch device, why shoe horn in virtual buttons which only exist that way because of the real life versions that came before them?
