Server/Network Programmer
We are looking for a Server/Network Programmer to join the team in our Central London studio. Hutch is a dynamic games studio, founded on a wealth of traditional game development experience, blending a bunch of people who are talented and passionate about making the best free to play games.
The successful candidate will be designing, prototyping and developing server-based multiplayer game systems, including both synchronous and asynchronous gameplay, matchmaking, leaderboards, DLC and more. Job Responsibilities


  • Growing our multiplayer service into innovative new areas across new titles, using the latest technology to develop the most compelling online experience for our players.
  • Designing and building new online functionality in a maintainable, robust and flexible manner, ensuring scalability and readiness for rapid post-launch updates in response to customer feedback.
  • Writing tools where necessary to empower artists, designers and customer services to administrate the online services as much as possible.

Requirements


  • Strong technical design and code skills in suitable Web technologies and frameworks, including JavaScript/C#, Node.js, Azure/AWS, SQL/NoSQL, Redis, DC/OS, Docker, Marathon, or similar.
  • Broad experience of server/network programming and principles, including database design, replication, load balancing, reliable/unreliable messaging, latency minimisation, security.
  • 2+ years of server/network development experience in high load scenarios. Games and/or Unity experience desirable but not essential.

Senior F2P  Designer
We’re looking for a Senior F2P Designer or design-minded Product Manager to join the team in our Central London studio.
Reporting directly to the Design Director, the Senior Designer will work across projects forming a crucial part of the studio’s creative setup. The Senior Designer will use their experience of virtual goods-based business models and strong monetisation intuition to develop new features and systems for our mobile titles that will improve monetisation, engagement, retention and virality.

Marketing Graphic Designer
Hutch is looking for a talented and adaptable graphic artist to join the Hutch marketing team to support campaigns and provide creative assets to the emerging demands. 

Job Description


Work will vary from requests for quick response assets (using pre-existing artwork and branding material) to projects requiring research, design and concepting for original promotional materials. This material is used for the promotion of our products and brand and needs to be supplied in a variety of formats and asset types. The role would suit a candidate in the earlier stages of their career seeking to build on a range of experience. Although working from the marketing team, the candidate will often work closely with game development teams. Due to the varied and time critical nature of the work it is important that the candidate be organised, focused, self-sufficient and able to respond quickly in time pressured circumstances. The successful candidate will be rooted in graphic design but competent across a broad range of digital art skills.  Some portion of the candidate’s time may be taken communicating with external agencies and suppliers.

Requirements


  • Graphic design background

Generalist/3D Artist
Hutch is looking for a highly talented and adaptable generalist artist to join us in Hutch’s London studio.

The Role


The role has an emphasis on strong 3D and texturing skills. The successful candidate will be highly skilled across a broad range of digital art skills, ideally, drawing on a rich experience based in console and mobile gaming.



Key responsibilities:


  • Great 3D skills: Both high and low poly. Hard surface modelling, vehicles, environment objects and landscape.
  • Texturing skills with an ability to create great textures without the use of photo source
  • Tidy, clean and organised work
  • An ability to be aesthetically adaptable and change between a range styles according to the needs of the product.
  • Lighting: A good understanding of the principles and experience either in-game or pre-rendered.
  • Surfaces shaders: Can demonstrate good use of native shaders.
  • An understanding of authoring content for real-time rendering.

Embedded Tester
Hutch is looking for a talented Embedded Tester to join us in our London studio.

The Role


Reporting to the QA Project Lead, the embedded tester will be working within a small mobile games development team in an agile environment.  They should be a good communicator with excellent people skills and strong technical skills.  The candidate would be expected to own the testing for significant aspects of one of our mobile projects, completing in-house testing and regression.  The candidate must be self-motivated and well organised and have a real passion for QA.

Key responsibilities:


  • Design and execute functional and regression test cases (Manual Testing)
  • Coordinating with an external test team
  • Working embedded within the development team completing in-house testing and bug regression
  • Attending and contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and the daily scrums
  • Reporting on build status
  • Tracking bug progress / database management

Producer
Hutch’s London studio is looking for a new Producer. At Hutch we pride ourselves on creating a development culture that empowers games teams to create compelling, but also commercial experiences. Working in a saturated and hugely competitive market, as a Producer you’ll be focused on using lean and Agile principles to help the games teams to build titles and features to be validated as quickly as possible.

The Producer will:


  • Own and be responsible for the project schedule, dates and costs, both before release and on into running as a service.

UI Designer
Hutch is looking for a talented UI designer to join us in our London studio. You should have several years experience in UI design for mobile, but extraordinarily talented people will always be considered. You should have a good knowledge of usability and freemium best-practices, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of UX principles combined with a well-developed sense of aesthetics.

Skills and Experience:


  • A passion for UX.
  • A good sense of color and composition, focusing on clarity and usability.

Games Analyst

The Role


At Hutch, we aim to make the best mobile racing games in the world. When we launch a game, that’s just the start: we use player feedback and most critically data to figure out how to make each game the best it can be. There are so many opportunities to identify insights in our data that we can’t keep up – and that’s where you come in. As a Games Analyst, you’ll primarily be figuring out what our player data means and what we should do about it. You’ll be helping assess and optimise our marketing campaigns to maximise profitability, and getting involved with in-game economy design in our forthcoming titles. Hutch believes in empowering and trusting our teams. We work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and have flexible hours the rest of the time. We welcome ideas for our games from all parts of the business, and applicants from all backgrounds.



Some examples of the work you will be involved in:


  • Designing and analysing control-based experiments on in-game parameters

You’re deeply comfortable with numbers. Your instinctive approach to any problem is to quantify it first. You always notice when news reports fail to contextualise numbers. Your analysis has led to quantifiable improvements. You’ve got 2+ years of experience (or much more!) in an analytical role.

Desirable. Two is fine. None are essential.


  • Curious – driven to discover underlying explanations of things, just for fun
  • Excel mastery – ever used multi-line formulae, or automated a data import/export? Great!

Customer Support Specialist

The Role


We’re looking for someone who is passionate about cars, games, and helping players get the most from our titles. Reporting to the Customer Support Manager, the role will mainly focus on Customer Support, interacting with VIP players, helping out on our forums, and direct marketing campaigns using our CRM system with the scope to specialise in one of these roles in the future



Responsibilities:


  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints
  • Perform and record customer refunds where appropriate
  • Be the face of the company - work with passion and integrity - respond as a person and be honest and upfront with our customers
  • Provide feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process
  • Being the first point of contact VIP players via our CRM system
  • Build strong relationships with valuable customers and provide superb service and gaming experiences tailored to them, across all products
  • Initiate campaigns that will drive activity for high net worth customers, ensure that they are generated in a timely manner, results monitored and reported
  • Monitor the customer base for new VIP customer potential
  • Work alongside game teams to plan and execute in game events and promotions

Requirements


  • Degree level education or equivalent experience (2+ years in a similar role)
